Boiler repair in Tameside

Most boiler breakdowns come down to a handful of causes — pressure loss, a blocked condensate, a failed diverter valve, or a sensor reading wrongly. When you call, have the make, model and any fault code on the display to hand. It tells us a lot before we set off.

Central heating that never quite warms up

Plenty of the older properties around Tameside have had radiators added over the years without the system ever being rebalanced. The result is a scalding hallway and a cold back bedroom. Balancing the system, replacing tired valves or flushing out sludge usually fixes it without replacing anything major.

Should you repair or replace?

We'll give you an honest view based on the age of the appliance, availability of parts and what else is likely to go next. If a repair will see you through several more winters, we'll say so. Gas-specific work is covered on our gas services page, and if you have no heat or hot water right now, see emergency plumbing.

Good to know

Heating questions we're often asked

When should I call a heating engineer?

If the boiler is losing pressure, making new noises, locking out, or the radiators are cold at the top or bottom, it's worth a call before it fails completely — especially heading into winter.

Why is one radiator cold when the rest are hot?

Usually air in the top of the radiator or sludge settling in the bottom, though a stuck valve is common too. Bleeding it is the first thing to try; if it keeps happening the system may need balancing or flushing.

Is it worth repairing my boiler or replacing it?

It depends on the age of the boiler, the part that's failed and whether spares are still available. We'll tell you straight which makes more sense rather than pushing a new boiler by default.

Do you service boilers?

Yes — annual servicing helps catch small faults early and is usually a condition of the manufacturer's warranty. Get in touch to arrange one.
